I was so happy when I learned what a philomath was.

It’s someone that seeks to gain as much knowledge as possible about as many subjects as possible.

And it’s a much nicer way to refer to yourself than having “hobby ADHD,” which is what I’d been using.

If it’s new to me, I want to understand it. So I do a lot in my spare time. And most who know me well will say that I don’t do anything halfway.

My biggest personal hobbies and subjects of interest include:

  • Cooking & Baking

  • Gardening & Horticulture

  • Fitness & Nutrition

  • Fiber Arts & Painting

  • Home Renovation & DIY

  • Entomology & Ecology

Some fun facts:

  • I have a 100-pound Mastiff mix named Indie. (Indie Anna Bones when she’s in trouble.)

  • My husband and I love to travel. Favorite place I’ve been so far: Bora Bora.

  • I know way too much about the lives and times of Marie Antoinette and Elizabeth I.

  • I can speak intermediate French and a tiny bit of Japanese and German.

  • I’m a certified yoga teacher (RYT 200).

  • I used to have a blog and host my own podcast for beginning gardeners.

  • I preserve my own pasta sauce, pickles and salsas.

  • I think white chocolate tastes like disappointment.

  • I’m an Enneagram 1w2, a Myers-Briggs INFJ and a Predictive Index “Scholar.”

  • I’m from northeast Kansas but will always think of Chicago as home.

  • My coworkers have described me as: a natural leader, calming, supportive, direct/honest, meticulous, strategic, quick thinking, confident, knowledgeable, someone who takes initiative, a problem solver, an advocate.
